Google Search is rolling out the google.com/goto URL as a passthrough URL within search results, which it began testing in July 2026. It gives Google a way to prevent third-party tools and AI companies from scraping its search results. Google confirmed this by saying it regularly takes steps to protect its services and users.
Site reputation abuse enforcement now varies by searcher location

Beginning August 30, the impact of Site Reputation Policy manual actions will no longer apply to results shown to users in the European Economic Area, although affected sections may be separated and ranked independently. Enforcement remains unchanged outside the EEA; site owners will still be notified in Search Console and eligible disputes may proceed to mediation after a reconsideration request.
