For those looking for a new SEO job (or that are hiring)...

Last week I launched a new SEOFOMO initiative: The Free (and easy to use) SEOFOMO Job Board and Alerts, already featuring a couple of dozens of excellent SEO and PPC jobs from all over the world.

My goal with it is:

  • To facilitate SEOs from all over the world to have easy access and stay updated with the best SEO jobs in the market.
  • To make it easy for companies to get the most visibility from the right SEO audience.

This is now more important than ever with a struggling SEO job market. Due to this I also wanted to take the opportunity to give 3 fundamental tips to those SEOs looking for a new role when applying for jobs:

  1. Show that you actually want the job, so take your time to read the job requirements and conditions and company values and mission. When applying, make sure to personalize your application and communicate how you're a great fit for it: knowledge, experience with projects and tools, understanding of industry, alignment with company values, etc. Please, don't send a generic application.
  2. Stand out by explaining your USP as an SEO specialist: Understand your unique selling proposition as an SEO specialist and communicate it well: Explain why they should hire you instead of other applicants, what makes you unique and a valuable SEO professional. From your specific experience and background, industry know-how, language knowledge, programming, content or soft skills, etc. And you know what's as important as your knowledge and experience? Your attitude towards work. It's also critical to explain and provide insights about your work ethic, discipline and commitment to achieve goals.
  3. Trust is fundamental when hiring. Do you know how to increase trust? By referring to your site showcasing your expertise, not only featuring your bio, but also your latest guides showing your know-how and case studies from successful project experiences, testimonials from former employers/clients, embedded videos from your latest webinars, podcasts, talks, etc. There's no excuse to do this, you can even use no-code free landing pages platforms for it. What you should never do is lie about your experience or knowledge, always be honest. Instead, explain how you're willing to take the necessary steps to close the gaps of whatever required that you still don't know.
