Just a week after OpenAI announced its SearchGPT prototype -for which you could request to join the waitlist here-, highlighting "its fast and timely answers" as well as "clear and relevant sources", SEOs have already started to receive access to it, going through it while showing its detailed answers for different popular queries with clearer source citations than Google's AI Overview.

Although some major sites are already blocking its web crawler, OpenAI has been making licensing deals with major publishers too, and even if its eventual adoption is never as high as Google -Similarweb shows it attracted 187.4M visits in June vs 81.4B from Google-, as Brian Morrissey says in its future of search analysis: "Search is too good of a business model to remain relegated to an all-in-one search engine. LLMs will provide the opportunity to provide differentiated search experiences". Even Microsoft says OpenAI is now a competitor in AI and search too.
